The sad news has come that we must close our doors once more.

This weeks classes will run as normal face to face and from next week for 4 weeks, we will run classes online on the zoom platform.

To avoid any disruption and to keep the students in their routine, the classes will remain on the same day at the same time as their usual class.

This term is a 6 weeks term starting week beginning Monday 2nd November and finishing week ending Friday 11th December.

Week 1 - face to face

Week 2 - zoom

Week 3 - zoom

Week 4 - zoom

Week 5 - zoom for Tuesday classes, face to face for Wednesday classes

Week 6 - face to face - Christmas Party Dance class.

The fees for the 6 weeks will be £20 for all except the Teen Commercial class which will be £22.

If you have already paid this terms fees, i can either refund you the difference or deduct it from next terms fees - please let me know what you'd prefer to do.

Unfortunately the exam will be postponed until the end of January.

I will send out the zoom link on the day of each class. If you are able to connect zoom onto a bigger screen (laptop, tablet, TV) rather than a phone it makes the experience so much better for your child. I can talk you through this if you need any help.

The mental and physical health for all our students is priority therefore keeping them active and seeing their friends online should keep them motivated.

I would really appreciate the support from our families where possible to keep us going and allowing us to remain open in these hard times.

Lets get through these 4 weeks and we can hopefully look forward to a lovely Christmas at the end of it.

Stay safe, stay happy, stay healthy x

Hi All

Please find info below with regards to setting up zoom on your TV.

I find there are some students who don' like learning from zoom and i think the main reason for this is because they are watching from either a phone or tablet and you can not get the same atmosphere or see clearly on a small screen.

With these uncertain times and a lot of students having to isolate for 14 days i think it would be wise to stream the classes live. If your child can not attend class, they will not need to miss out on their dance training and also socialising with their friends.

All you need to do is download zoom on your laptop - https://zoom.us/

Either sign up if you haven't got an account or sign in.

You will need to buy a HDMI cable. You can get them for under £10 on Amazon.

Connect your laptop and TV with the HDMI cable (just like you would if you were

setting up a playstation/games console) and select the HDMI option on your TV.

Thats it!

The TV will mirror your laptop so you will be able to view and take part in the class on a much bigger screen.

You will just need to click on the link or type in the meeting I.D and password once i send it to you.

It is really easy to do and the best way for your child to enjoy taking part in their dance class online if the need to isolate.

If you have any questions please just ask and i'd be happy to talk you through it.

Hi Parents and Students,

Hope you’re all having a lovely summer. I look forward to welcoming you all back in the next few weeks!

The first half term is for 7 weeks from week beginning Monday 8th September to Friday 23rd October 2020.

Please find below information for the new September term and instructions with regards to Covid 19.

Attending your dance class will be slightly different and will require you to do a few things before entering.

  • No parents will be allowed to stay/wait at the venue. Please drop your child off at the door and keep 2m apart at all times from other children/parents. Please arrive no more than 5 mins before your class.

  • Please wait at the door for your teacher to let you in. Upon entry you will have your temperature checked.

  • For younger students of the Hip Tots and Tots classes, parents please can you take your child to the toilet before entering the hall.

  • Once in the studio/hall you will need to change your shoes. No outdoor shoes will be permitted, please bring a spare pair of trainers in a bag to change into it. You can then put your outdoor shoes in the bag. Please put your bag along the wall.

  • Use the hand sanitizer provided straight away.

  • There will be rubber spots on the floor to keep students 2m apart. Choose a spot and stand on it. That will be your area for the rest of the class.

  • If you do need to cough or sneeze, please cover your mouth with your elbow and not your hand.

  • If you feel unwell or have a high temperature, please stay home.

With regards to payment of fees:
Fees will continue to be paid up front at the start of each half term. If paying by cash, please put the correct money in an envelope labelled with your childs name and hand to Carrie at the start of the first class back. Alternatively, please transfer the fees via bank transfer (please ask for the details if you don’t already have them).

Fees will increase slightly from September 2020. I haven’t increased the fees in at least 5 years and even with the increase they are still a very competitive price.

The times of some of the classes will change slightly to stagger arrival and finish times to avoid blocking of the hall/studio on your arrival.

Please see below new times and fees: 7 weeks half term from week beginning Monday 8th September to Friday 23rd October 2020.

Your child does not need to wear a face mask to take part in the dance class. I will be wearing one at the start of each class to greet the children and then take it off when the class starts.

Please can you fill in the form below to state you are happy for your child to attend the classes with the above information. Also, in some of the classes I usually give sweets or chocolate at the end, can you please state if you are still happy for me to do this or not.

Hi All

Happy July! Just a few things before we finish for the end of term next week.

The last class will be on Saturday 25th July - either on zoom or in person (to be decided) and then we will break for summer until the start of September.

Hopefully we will be in class, in person with guidance from the government with regards to health & safety and social distancing.

There is still time to enter the CH competition for July to be in with a chance of winning a t-shirt, please keep sending your pictures and videos of you practising! I will be picking TWO winners in JULY!

The Dance & Music Quiz will be held on Thursday 23rd July 6-7pm on ZOOM.

All you will need to take part is a pen, paper and be able to send me an instant picture of your answers either via whatsapp or email. You will need to send me a clear picture of your answers within 5 mins at the end of the quiz so i can total the scores up to see who has won. If you are playing as a team e.g 2 sisters living at the same address taking part together and you win, you will win one prize between you.

It's not about the winning, its the taking part that counts! It will be a fun, social evening for you all having a bit of fun!

There are 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes. See the pictures below. 1st place - purple chocolate bouquet and 2nd & 3rd place a chocolate hamper.

Please respond that you would like to take part in the quiz so i can send you the zoom link.

Use of Zoom - Parent Guide

Zoom is a fabulous platform and one which I will be using to stream the dance classes to you. This is a free app and very easy to use!

Zoom can be accessed through a number of different devices.

  • • A browser from your laptop.

  • • A browser from your PC.

  • • An app from your phone.

  • • An app from your tablet.

For the best experience we recommend using on a TV. You can do this by either:

  • • Connect an HDMI cable linked from your laptop or phone to your TV.

  • • Select the HDMI option on your TV screen.

However, I know this is not always available so laptops, tablets or phones can also be used.

How to get your invite to join?

I will send you a specific link for your live class on the morning of the class.

Click on the link.

Ideally join the class 10 minutes before it is due to begin. When you click on the link you will be placed in the ‘waiting room’ until the class starts.

When the class starts, change your view to ‘gallery view’ which can be found in the top right of the screen. Or if you’re on a phone or tablet, swipe to the right. This will mean you will see everyone else in your class and you can all have a chat!

During the class I will ‘mute’ you all. This is to avoid distortion occurring during the class and so you can hear me and the music.

You can now chat online with your friends! Check out the online chat forum exclusively for CH Dance students https://www.chdance.com/post/chattocarrie

I have added more workouts for you to do at home too in the 'Train' section of the app.

Please keep sending your pictures and videos and i will post them on the CH Dance social sites.

Also please view the video below for an exciting competition you can be involved in!

Hi All

Wow what a week it has been!

Hope you are all well and staying safe and adjusting to life in doors, working from home and home schooling!

How did you get on learning this weeks routine for your class? I will be posting a video once a week on a Tuesday as though you are actually attending the class.

Also i will be doing a live 15 minute rehearsal for each class on Saturday 4th April (see times below)

You can tune in live, ask me any questions, practise your dances that you have learnt online and be able to see and talk to all your friends from the class too! As we are all in the same boat isolating, it will be great for you/your child to socialise via the live class and keep in touch with your/their friends.

All you will need to do is download the ZOOM app https://zoom.us/download

You can do this on your phone, tablet or laptop. If there is a way of hooking it up to the TV that would be great for your child to see me and everyone in their class on a bigger screen.

Please text me your name to register for the live class next Saturday and i can send you the link.

Please do send me any pictures or videos of you/your child practising the routines. It really does make my day! Teaching to camera is totally different as you don't get the feedback as you would being in a class full of students, so receiving the videos really make me smile.

Timetable - Live class:
Hip Tots (Tues)           12.30

Mini Movers (Tues)     1pm
Teen (Tues)                12 noon
Hip Tots (Wed)            1.30pm
Kids (Wed)                  1.50pm

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask!

Hello All! Welcome to the CH Dance App full of wonderful things to keep you entertained while at home.

I will be doing virtual classes which i will update every week for you to learn and then do a live class for you all to get together and practise and keep social! This will all be in the 'Class' section of the app which is password protected for CH Dance students only!

We are still going to be working towards the dance exam for the time being and also the presentation showcase, so it's important you don't forget your routines!
You will need to download the ZOOM app on your phone or tablet for the live classes. It might be worth checking if you can link it up to your TV so you will have a bigger screen to watch and see everyone else in your class!

There is a section in the app called 'Train' which has various stretching exercises, workouts for the mums and colouring dance pages for you to print off and enjoy. You can also draw your own designs and send them to me for VOTW (see below)

I have also launched VOTW (Video of the week) where you video yourself practising, stretching, choreographing your own routines, freestyling, colouring in the dance pictures and anything else dance related and i will choose one video a week to upload onto the app as 'Star of the Week'!

I'm missing you all already! It won't be long until this is over and we can get back into the dance studio and see each other again! Be extra nice to your parents and keep on dancing and smiling!
